Inspired by the students and faculty they met through Dartmouth alumni events, Dr. Lortscher and his partner, James Cuoto, found ways beyond clinical practice to help people.“These incredibly smart kids were doing such remarkable research,” Couto recalls.
Moved by their experiences, the couple made a $3 million bequest to the Geisel School of Medicine to support student-based oncology research. “Even if it changes just one student’s life,” Couto says, “I would be happy.”
