Accelerating Innovation in Digital Behavioral Health
With behavioral healthcare in high demand, there are not enough trained clinical professionals to meet the need. That’s where the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health (CTBH) comes in. At CTBH, innovators and clinicians across disciplines are developing and evaluating digital technologies to bring personalized, science-based care to patients anytime, anywhere.
Digital Behavioral Health Spotlight: First Therapy Chatbot Trial Yields Mental Health Benefits
In the first-ever clinical trial of a generative AI-powered therapy chatbot, CTBH researchers found that the software resulted in significant improvements in participants’ symptoms. While AI-powered therapy is still in critical need of clinician oversight, these results show that it has the potential to provide real-time support for the many people who lack regular or immediate access to a mental-health professional. The results of this groundbreaking study were featured in The New York Times, Forbes, MIT Technology Review, and more.
Accelerating Innovation in Healthcare Delivery
A joint venture between Dartmouth Health and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice, The Richard and Susan Levy Health Care Delivery Incubator launched in 2020 to transform the delivery of healthcare. It serves as a shining example of how innovation can drive tangible impact for patients and their families—and begin to heal a healthcare system that has long been viewed as broken.
Healthcare Delivery Spotlight: Lung Cancer Screening Rates Are Low. This Team Is Changing That.
A team at Dartmouth Health and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth has worked to destigmatize lung cancer screening and increase lung cancer screening rates for rural communities in New Hampshire and Vermont. The initiative, supported in part by the Levy Incubator, has already had a substantial impact on patients.
Accelerating Innovation in Cancer Therapeutics
The Dartmouth Innovation Accelerator for Cancer (DIAC) was launched in 2020 with a bold goal: bring the best cancer therapies to market, faster. Powered by an extensive and dedicated network of alumni from across Dartmouth, DIAC exists to quicken the pace of cancer research, nurture innovative discoveries through the development pipeline, and offer hope to patients and families.
Cancer Therapeutics Spotlight: Cancer's Most Wanted Target
For decades, cancer researchers have been stymied by an elusive challenge: a gene that fuels unchecked cell growth. Myelocytomatosis oncogene (known as MYC) plays a role in most deadly tumors. Yet efforts to develop drugs to rein it in have fallen short. Now, two Dartmouth scientists may have finally cracked the “MYC problem” in cancer. With support in part from DIAC, the pair has devised an innovative new strategy to target this “undruggable” gene.
